摘要

This paper built a dynamic traffic flow model at intersections and presented a real-time optimizing algorithm for traffic signals at an arterial based on genetic algorithm. Intersections on a long traffic arterial were separated into several groups, each group was called a big intersection and was composed of two or three neighbouring intersections. By optimizing all the groups on the arterial according to the real-time traffic condition, an optimal result can be gained. Firstly, signal cycle of the big intersection was acquired dynamically by fuzzy logic inference, then the optimizing model for traffic signal with a control unit of the big intersection was built according to the relevancy between the neighboring intersections, and signal timings were optimized by genetic algorithm. Finally simulation results proved the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm for an oversaturated arterial.
