Devices for Next-Generation CE Make CES 2008 Debuts

Semiconductor technology remains central to advanced functions in multimedia devices and multiple-function consumer electronics. During the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which ran from Jan. 7 to 11 in Las Vegas, Nevada, some semiconductor companies set up booths on the show floor, but many maintained private suites in nearby hotels to demonstrate the capabilities of their products. Some, like Xilinx, Inc., Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI), Magnum Semiconductor, NXP Semiconductors, Toshiba America Electronic Components, and Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. tend to build broad portfolios of devices for a range of different purposes. At this year's CES, automotive electronics, wireless networks and mobile high-definition transmissions were favorite themes for semiconductor companies.
