Optically pumped lasing is observed in cyano-substituted thiophene/phenylene co-oligomer (TPCO) microcrystals fabricated by the slide boat method. Dot-shaped crystals approximately 10 mu m in size are obtained. Needle- and platelet-like crystals are also obtained in other TPCO derivatives. The needle and platelet crystals show a lower lasing threshold than that of the dot-shaped crystals with clear multimode lasing spectra. A brief discussion follows on how to improve film fabrication from microdot and platelet crystals to film-like morphology. (C) 2019 The Japan Society of Applied Physics
