This paper reviews recent progress in an energy-autonomous biosensing platform using a supply-sensing CMOS integrated sensor and a biofuel cell for next-generation healthcare Internet of Things (IoT). By introducing an energy-efficient supply-sensing architecture with CMOS electronics, energy-autonomous operation become feasible. In the supply-sensing architecture, energy harvesting and sensing are combined, and thus the energy efficiency can be dramatically improved. This paper also introduces some examples of energy-autonomous sensing platforms, i.e., fructose-, lactate-, and glucose-monitoring applications. (C) 2018 The Japan Society of Applied Physics
