An S-PAC model [student professionalism awareness conference]

A student professionalism awareness conference (S-PAC) had beennproposed for the Ohio Northern University (ONU) since the earlyneighties. Each time it was shelved because the effort involved was toonoverwhelming for the small program. While conventional thinking told thenauthors that a small school should plan a small S-PAC, they foundnsuccess by going in the opposite direction. Expanding the S-PAC into anone day conference, planning it as a college event and requiring studentnattendance, produced an event that was well received and accomplishednall the goals of an S-PAC. It also produced several benefits that werenunexpected. ONU's first S-PAC was held on 7 March 2001 and was, by allnaccounts, a resounding success
