EPA Releases Revised Analysis Guidance For Facilities That Handle Hazardous Waste

The Environmental Protection Agency has released updated guidance for conducting waste analyses at facilities that generate, treat, store, and dispose of hazardous wastes. The guidance will make collecting and evaluating data more efficient, transparent, and effective, the agency said. EPA said the guidance will clarify how hazardous waste facilities should design waste characterization studies, how facilities can address issues of waste variability, and how to establish data quality objectives. It also will clarify how to select indicator parameters in a manner that will reduce testing costs, how to address uncertainty in measurements, and how to properly use statistical concepts to guide the waste characterization process.
