Environmental groups’ “everything but the kitchen sink” challenge to an approved $500 million power line project only shows the federal government made decisions that were“reasonable, well-supported, and appropriate,” according to a filing in a Wisconsin federal court.The Cardinal-Hickory Creek Project at issue is planned to transport energy from Iowa to customers in Wisconsin.The National Wildlife Refuge Association, Driftless Area Land Conservancy, and two other groups say the federal government failed to properly study the project’s environmental impacts.The Fish and Wildlife Service in particular violated federal law by allowing the project to cross a protected wildlife refuge, the groups argue.
