A global snapshot of the state of digital collections in the health sciences, 2013

Two hundred twenty-nine health sciences libraries(HSLs) worldwide were surveyed regarding theavailability of digital collections, evidence of thetype of digital collections, level of access, softwareused, and HSL type. Of the surveyed libraries, 69%(n5157) had digital collections, with an average of1,531 items in each collection; 49% (n5112) also hadinstitutional repositories. In most cases (n5147), thesecollections were publicly available. The predominantplatforms for disseminating these digital collectionswere CONTENTdm and library web pages.
