On Boxing Day in 2004,television brought terrible images of the destructive and murderous power of the sea into our homes.An earthquake close to Indonesia triggered a large tsunami.It first swept ashore on Nias Island and then Aceh Province at the northern end of the island of Sumatra.Almost 170000 people died,a quarter of the 2.5m population lost their livelihoods and over 140000 homes were destroyed.
