The authors describe a modification of a technique proposed bynVaidyanathan (1985) for the design of filters having flat passbands andnequiripple stopbands. The modification ensures that the passband isnmonotonic and does so without the use of concavity constraints. Anothernmodification described in this brief adapts the method of Vaidyanathannto the design of low-pass differentiators having a specified degree ofntangency at Ω=0
