Always at the forefront of innovation, the University of Southern California (USC) has a vibrant history of pioneering inventions and initiatives that have gone beyond advancing learning environments to impact the wider society; from USC Information Sciences Institute's creation of the Domain Name System in 1983 through to the recent establishment of the USC Jimmy lovine and Andre Young (Dr. Dre) Academy of Arts, Technology, and the Business of Innovation incubation lab for young thought leaders. Prior to the pandemic, USC Learning Environments - led by director, Joe Way, PhD - was initiating the last stage of its digital transformation, rethinking how classroom technology could impact the teaching and learning experience. "We design with a people-first mindset, so every student is offered an accessible, safe and sustainable learning environment," says Way, who along with the 12-strong Learning Environments team oversees customer support, operations, integration, and design of all general use spaces across the campus and serves as a consulting and procurement management voice for campus partners. While Way works at the executive level, managing partner relationships and ensuring vision alignment, Raj Singh leads the AV IT architects for design and programming, Anthony Watson oversees engineering and systems maintenance, Anton Zeiher manages the operations team and physical equipment, and Jimmy Singleton directs the customer support and communications team.
