Five different personalization trends are the catalyst for approximately $13 billion in industry aftermarket sales, according to the Vice Chairman of Product Development for ASC Inc., Ted Robertson, speaking at an AVL Technology Theater panel session during the SAE 2004 World Congress in March. The trends that are influencing mainstream vehicles include: sports compact vehicles being altered to assume a look akin to the movie "The Fast and The Furious"; urban auto tuners dressing up their vehicles to reflect their "bling bling" lifestyle; low-rider tuners reshaping their pickup trucks; high-end tuners adding content to their performance luxury cars; and owners of classics customizing their vehicles via the aftermarket.
