摘要

Scenes of astronauts and cosmonauts cavorting in weightlessness, bouncing off walls of their space station modules and playing with floating food morsels, have all become "ordinary" images from "routine" space missions in recent decades. But as with all things in the heavens and on Earth, there was a first time for this—and it was aboard the Salyut 1 space station in June 1971. Over a period of three weeks, rapt audiences all over Earth thrilled at the televised scenes of three men making a home in space. It wasn't a brief sortie or a voyage from point to point— it was an embryonic settlement of the kind long forecast by space prophets in Russia, Germany and America. Now cosmonauts Georgiy Dobrovolskiy, Vladislav Volkov and Viktor Patsayev were making these dreams come true right in front of the eyes of television audiences.
