Many older accountants made redundant are struggling to find employment because of ageist attitudes in the UK. More than 500 recruitment managers, accountants and finance professionals were polled by recruitment agency, AFR Consulting. More than three quarters (83%) of respondents said that age would be a barrier to employment when hiring a finance director or accountant.
