In stylistic analysis, it is linguistic deviation that we are most interested in. Concerning the unique writing styles presented in Dickens' realistic novels, the author of this paper attempts to apply semantic deviation into stylistic study of realistic texts, focusing on Bumble's language in Oliver Twist as object of study. This study can help readers have a better comprehension of the character Bumble and the theme of this novel on the one hand and learn from Dickens' talented writing style and technique on the other hand.
