运用情态理论分析辞职信人际功能的实现

摘要

Modality is one of the most important devices in the re-alization of the interpersonal function of a language. The appro-priate modal choice can help a language user fulfill a better com-munication. In the process of writing the resignation letters, the writer uses different modal words to show their attitudes and in-tentions so as to achieve the interpersonal meaning of language in the letter. The thesis focuses on the modal expressions of the 20 resignation letters and tries to find out the distributions of differ-ent types of modal words and then proceeds to analyze their functions in resignation letters.%情态作为体现人际意义的语气系统中的子系统，是人际功能的主要语义载体，是实现语言人际功能的重要因素。在辞职信中，人际功能涉及写信者和读信者之间的互动关系，写信人通过语言表达自己的意图和态度从而去影响读信者的态度和行为。本文通过对20篇英文辞职信中的情态表达进行研究，从而分析辞职信中情态的表现方式及作用。
