牛仔形象对比分析——基于欧文·威斯特的《弗吉尼亚人》

摘要

Based on the comparison of daily lives,social status and personal images between the typical cowboy hero—the Virgin-ian and the real cowboys in the Cowboy Era in American history,using the text analysis of The Virginian,this paper intends to ex-plore the differences between the Virginian and real cowboys in the Cowboys Era to prove that the Virginian,as a typical cowboy hero,is fictionalized and has not given the whole truth about cowboys.Further,it is hoped that this paper can help people get a bet-ter understanding of the American cowboys and provide them a different angle to read western cowboy stories.%该文从日常生活、社会地位及人物形象等方面对弗吉尼亚人这个牛仔英雄与牛仔时代真实的牛仔进行对比的基础上说明弗吉尼亚人这个典型的牛仔英雄与真实的牛仔之间基本上没有相似性,从本质上来说其英雄的形象是不真实的,并且在某种程度上也影响了人们对牛仔的认识.同时也希望这篇论文能给人们提供一种不同的视角来欣赏美国西部片和西部牛仔小说.
