This research studies the silence phenomenon in class and takes the undergraduates majoring in the traditional Chi⁃nese medicine as its objects. By questionnaires and interviews, it analyzes the causes of silence in college English class from the four perspectives of teachers, students, cultures and relation to major. Appropriate strategies from the teachers ’perspective are put forward in order to solve or improve the current inactive college English class.%此研究以中医院校中医相关专业本科生为研究对象,对大学英语课堂沉默现象进行研究,通过调查问卷访谈等方式从教师、学生、文化、专业相关度四个角度分析学生在课堂上沉默的原因,并针对原因从教师的角度提出切实可行的措施,解决或改善目前中医院校大学英语课堂教学沉闷、不活跃的现状。
