现代性主体生成的难度--关于小说《涂自强的个人悲伤》

当涂自强这一农村青年进入城市，努力成长为一个现代性主体的个人时，他遇到了一系列困境，这种困境既来自于城市空间的结构性因素，更来自于其所成长的乡土空间，即一方面他必然的“离乡”行为和下意识中的“去农村”的视野，把农村作为一个前现代的、需要剥离的经验，另一方面又无法真正摆脱乡土空间内生的劳动方式和情感结构。而这一困境内部其实包含了对1980年代以来现代性话语支配下的“个人叙事”的一种隐秘的质疑和反抗。%TU Zi-qiang, a rural youth, encountered a series of difficulties when he went into the city, trying to grow as an individual subject of modernity. The dilemma comes from not only the structural fac-tors of urban space, but also the country where he grew up. On the one hand, he has to get away from home and get rid of the countryside experiences subconsciously, taking the countryside as pre-modern. On the other hand, he cannot really get rid of the labor ways and emotional structures from countryside lives. This dilemma, in fact, contains questions and revolts to “Individuality Narrative” which stemmed from the 1980s.
