对外文化交流中的地名英译问题及其对策研究——以江苏盐城市地名英译为例

摘要

Many problems in translating Chinese place names into English lead to foreigners＇ confusion about and misunderstanding the information and meaning of the original place names, which affect the images of Chinese cities. Due to special characteristics of place-name translation, some principles and solutions are suggested to translators in the paper and a piece of advice is put forward to the administrative for the improvement of place-name translation.%鉴于地名翻译的特殊性,译者理应遵循＂信息明示＂、＂译名一致＂、＂语言经济＂、＂受众友好＂、＂文化多样性＂和＂延续性＂原则,根据不同地名标识的类别,采用适当的翻译方法才能实现译名跨文化交际的目的。政府有关部门也应制定地名英译的地方法规和标准,为地名翻译的标准化和规范化提供法规的保障。
