Recent studies have discovered that RNA polymerase 1 transcriptional machinery, as a candidate for genome integrity checkpoint, plays an important role in DNA damage-induced apoptosis and chronic disruption of neurons by affecting the synthesis of ribosomes and interacting with other signal molecules.
