从《自己的一间屋》到《办公室》:跨越时空的女性诉求

本文选取弗吉尼亚· 伍尔夫的《自己的一间屋》和艾丽丝· 门罗的《办公室》两部作品,尝试探讨其中所包含的共同的女性诉求. 男权社会对女性作家的歧视和压制,使得她们得出共同的认识:女性作家需要自由独立的创作空间;女性作家需要理性地处理情感,摒弃个人化的愤怒. 两位作家虽然处于不同时期、不同国度,但是在表达女性作家的诉求方面却表现出非常相似的观点,都对女性空间特别关注,因而值得探讨.%In this essay, Virginia Woolf's A Room of One's Own and Alice Munro's The Office are chosen to compare their descriptions of women' s common pursuit for the right of free space and time.By opposing discrimination and suppression of the male-dominated society over women, Woolf and Munro draw the conclusion that a space of her own is necessary for a female writer to obtain free thinking and writing.They hope that female writers should deal with their emotions reasonably so as to aban-don personalized anger.Though they are in different eras and different countries, they express similar viewpoints towards female writers' pursuits, and similar concerns for female space, which makes them worthwhile to be discussed together.
