每一个人在心理上都需要得到社会认同以及自我认同。从信仰的失落与追寻、性别的焦虑与重构两个方面，对《占有》的主要角色进行分析。达尔文主义对上帝的冲击和现代社会的精神匮乏使两对主人公艾什与拉莫特、罗兰与毛德陷入信仰的迷茫状态，两性地位的不平等也让主人公陷入身份危机，但他们努力重构男女性别身份的等同地位。罗兰和毛德的结合标志了性别身份危机的解除，性别身份得到认同，两性关系走向和谐。%Everyone needs self and social identification psychologically.This thesis analyzes the protag-onists in Possession from the perspective of the loss and pursuit of faith,and the anxiety and re-construction of gender.The impact of Darwinism on God and the spiritual deficiency in the modern society causes the two pairs of protagonists,Ash and Larmont,Roland and Maud,to be caught in the confusion of faith.The gender inequality makes them be stuck in identity crisis.But they strive to re-construct the sexual equality. The mutual possession of Roland and Maud marks the relief of their identity crisis,their sexual identity is acknowledged,and the sexual relations become harmonious.
