American culture is distinctively diverse and open ,characterized by individualism ,concept of equality and utilitarianism .University student affairs management in America is profoundly influ-enced by cultural factors with individualism as its value orientation ,concept of equality as the corner-stone of its system design and utilitarianism as the guide to its pragmatic and efficient actions .%美国文化具有多元开放的鲜明特点，主要表现为个人主义、平等观念、实用主义等特征。文化因素深刻影响着美国高校学生事务管理，学生事务管理的价值取向是个人主义，学生事务管理制度设计的理念基石是平等观念，学生事务管理务实高效的行动指南是实用主义。
