This paper explains the theory of incidental vocabulary acquisition and analyzes the necessity of the integration of incidental vocabulary acquisition and English reading teaching and the factors affecting the incidental vocabulary acquisition in the English reading activities.The paper argues that the organic combination of incidental vocabulary acquisition and the teaching of reading can effectively improve students’vocabulary and comprehensive and pragmatic competence and accordingly proposes some suggestions on how to con-duct targeted teaching of reading.%根据词汇附带习得的相关理论,对词汇附带习得融入英语阅读教学的必要性及影响阅读过程中词汇附带习得效果的一些因素进行了分析,认为词汇附带习得与阅读教学的有机结合能有效提高学生的词汇量与综合语用能力,并在此基础上就如何进行有针对性的阅读教学提出了一些建议,如选择适合的阅读材料,扩大词汇量,培养阅读能力和阅读技巧,保证足够的阅读投入量等。
