摘要

Empirical evidence has identified emotional intelligence competencies as part of the transformational leadership style. The development of emotional intelligence competencies has been reviewed in the context of a leadership development learning intervention encompassing the model of assessment, challenge and support. The exploratory study researched "in what ways, if any, does a half-day classroom based corporate learning intervention impact the development of emotional intelligence competencies". This study has identified that the competencies can be significantly improved with a half-day workshop when combined with a coaching session.;This experiment, under live business conditions, has the potential to extend the body of knowledge relative to the use of the a leadership development model for emotional intelligence development, EQ-i assessment, qualitative behavior event interviews, the impact of a short classroom learning intervention and coaching on EI competencies. Practical application of the results lies in the design and implementation of the learning intervention, coaching session, assessment feedback and development processes in thousands of public and private commercial organizations that either use or are considering using a classroom-based learning to improve emotional intelligence competencies.
