Problem. The problem of this study was to determine the difference in Faith Maturity Scale (FMS) scores between adolescents who listen and do not listen to Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) in Southern Baptist Church youth ministries in Tarrant County, Texas. It was also the problem of this study to determine the difference in FMS scores between male and female adolescents who listen and do not listen to CCM. The final problem of this study was to determine the difference in FMS scores between seventh-eighth, ninth-tenth, and eleventh-twelfth grade adolescents who listen and do not listen to CCM.; Procedures. The FMS was administered to a systematic sample of adolescents involved in Southern Baptist Church youth ministries in Tarrant County, Texas, during the summer and fall of 2000. The level of significance was set at a = 0.05. One-way and two-way ANOVAs were computed, with significant differences analyzed with Fisher's Protected Least Significant Difference test and Simple Effects test. To compute differences, 440 instruments were used.; Findings and conclusion. FMS scores were significantly higher across the four groups of CCM listening frequency for all adolescents. The more frequently adolescents listened to CCM, the higher they scored on the FMS. A significant difference was found in FMS scores between males and females within the four CCM listening frequency groups. Females scored significantly higher than males in three of the four CCM listening frequency groups. Simple Effects testing also found significant differences within males and females across the four CCM listening frequency groups. The more frequently males and females listened to CCM, the higher they scored on the FMS. No significant difference was measured in FMS scores between the three school grade groups and the four CCM listening frequency groups. The main effect of grade was not significant. The main effect of CCM listening frequency was significant. The more frequently adolescents listened to CCM, the higher they scored on the FMS.
