International human resource development: A cross-cultural case study of a multinational training program in the United States and Taiwan (China).

摘要

The purpose of this study was to understand the influence of national culture on international HRD programming. This study analyzed how the selected training program was implemented in the U.S. and in Taiwan and provided an understanding about how Taiwanese culture influenced the HRD practitioners in planning and implementing the training program from the U.S. Findings indicated that to pursue similar learning outcomes, training practitioners relied on both standardization and localization in multinational programming. In program development, leaving room in course design for cultural diversity increases the cultural adaptability of a multinational program. In instructional strategies, the teaching techniques in the selected training program provide instructors with opportunities to integrate local cultures into their teaching. During the learning process, by practicing the course contents in their lives, learners can incorporate their life experiences into their learning. In addition, utilizing local instructors and language in teaching increases the Taiwanese people's acceptance of this multinational program.
