Factors that affect undergraduate minority student retention within higher education.

摘要

The focus of this project is to identify and analyze the factors that affect minority student retention in higher education to determine the causes for attrition. This project also examines whether higher education institutions and their academic programs can positively impact retention while considering factors like financial aid, integration and academic preparedness. This project involves survey and interview feedback obtained from both students (n=34) and program administrators (n=2) from the Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) and College Opportunity to Prepare for Employment (COPE). In addition, the results of this project could aid higher education administrators in better understanding the factors that are important to the retention of minority students in higher education.
