论文化自恋与文化特质在西方的接受——以《阿Q正传》三种译本研究为例

摘要

自恋这个概念最早来源于希腊神话，主要是指对于自己美貌的一种不可自拔的自我陶醉。文化自恋是指过于强调对本国的文化价值、信仰、习惯，甚至是语言表达方式的保护。
　　 本文选择了《阿Q正传》的三个英文版本进行文本对比，这三个版本分别由王际真、杨宪益夫妇和莱尔翻译。这四位译者均通晓中西两种文化，但在翻译策略的选择上，都有着各自不同的倾向。本文将重点讨论他们选择不同的翻译策略的原因，更为重要的是因此在中国文化的传播中所产生的不同影响。
　　 首先，作者将会从文本、副文本两个层面讨论文化自恋在翻译策略选择中体现。文本层面主要包括文化负载词的处理、句子的调整和篇章的重新安排。副文本层面主要包括译作封面、译者前言、附录和译作中的插图使用。其次，作者将会通过不同的社会文化语境来分析译者选择不同翻译策略的内在原因。这些语境要素包括:意识形态、赞助人以及译者个人的艺术追求。再次，作者将以译本出版后的相关书评、英美图书馆的馆藏和借阅量三个指标作为主要依据分析这三个译本的读者接受。
　　 通过比较和分析，本文发现文化自恋作为文化保护的极端方式会对读者的理解产生阻碍，进而妨碍文学作品的异域传播。译者应在完全“透明”和“稠密”之间选择一条中间道路，这样才能激发读者去思考、品味，完成鉴赏的过程，实现对异域文化的接受。适度保留“他者”可以给读者提供有异域色彩的阅读体验，从而促进中国文化作品在域外的传播。
