《子夜》许孟雄译本的译者风格考察--语料库翻译学研究

摘要

传统的翻译中译者风格的研究主要关注源语的语言特征是否在译文中得到充分的体现。长期以来，翻译活动被视为一种模仿性活动，而不是创造性活动。传统翻译理论强调译文与原文的完全对等并且要求译者在翻译过程中必须“隐身”。译者只是源语文本风格的再现，因此译者风格考察被严重忽视。但是学者逐渐发现，传统翻译理论难以对某些翻译现象做出充分合理的解释。因此，描写翻译学开始被学者们所关注。随着描写翻译学的兴起，翻译不再被视为简单的由源语到目的语的文本转换过程，而是一个包含了目的语及其社会、文化和意识形态背景等因素的多元系统，这一转变拓展了翻译研究视野。 基于语料库的译者风格研究作为一种全新的研究范式，是在大规模数据分析的基础上考察译者在传达原作风格之外的自我显现。描写翻译学和语料库的结合为基于语料库的译者风格研究奠定了理论基础和技术支持。研究者可以对译作进行文体风格的量化研究，对译者的语言表达形式等进行统计分析，从而发现译者的翻译风格特征。 本文运用定量与定性相结合的语料库语言学方法，主要从词汇、句法和语篇三个层面对母语为汉语的许孟雄的英译本《子夜》语料库和母语为英语的译者的翻译作品语料库两个子库进行对比和分析，从而试图发现许孟雄的独特翻译风格并尝试探究造成风格差异的原因。研究结果表明:和母语为英语的译者相比，许孟雄表现出独特的翻译特点。许孟雄倾向于使原文信息显化，另外，他注重词汇的多样性和翻译作品的可读性。 运用语料库检索工具对翻译作品进行检索分析，进而获得相关数据;通过对数据的分析，探讨不同译文的翻译风格。这种实证性的研究有助于更加科学地研究翻译风格。基于语料库的翻译风格研究避免了传统翻译的主观性，更加客观和具有说服力，语料库的应用为翻译研究开拓了新的途径。
