翻译美学视角下杜博妮英译《北岛诗选》研究

摘要

北岛的诗歌创作受西方现代主义诗歌的影响，语言晦涩抽象，意象跳跃密集。因其作品独特的艺术魅力，北岛曾多次获得诺贝尔文学奖的提名。他之所以在海外英语读者群里有一定的影响力，在很大程度上应归功于翻译，其中杜博妮的英译本发挥了非常重要的作用。杜博妮自二十世纪七十年代便开始翻译毛泽东、鲁迅、何其芳、北岛、朱光潜、阿城等中国现当代作家的作品，是目前英语世界最具影响力的中国现当代文学翻译家之一。
　　中国传统译论从理论命题到方法论都与美学紧密相联，当代的翻译美学理论研究是对我国传统译论的继承和发扬。当下，翻译美学理论主张在充分认识翻译审美客体（原文）和翻译审美主体（译者）前提下，剖析客体的审美构成和主体的主观能动性，并在翻译过程中提供审美再现的手段，以指导翻译实践。
　　本文选取《北岛诗选》杜博妮译本为例，以翻译美学为视角，从审美客体、审美主体、审美再现三个方面对其进行研究。研究发现，杜博妮在英译时其主观能动性的发挥取决于三个方面的因素:一是“情”，即通过“想象”把北岛诗歌中的审美感知进行“移情”;二是“知”，即对北岛诗歌当中的文化意象有着准确的把握和认识;三是“才”，即译者的翻译能力或功力。在译者主观能动性的作用下，北岛诗歌当中的形式系统（语音层、词语层、诗节层）和非形式系统（意境、意象）审美信息在英译本中通过模仿或改写的方式得到了审美再现。在既往的诗歌英译审美研究中，研究者往往一方面只侧重中国古代诗歌英译的审美研究，而对现当代诗歌的英译情况缺乏足够关注;另一方面学界往往只关注诗歌英译中的审美客体和审美再现，而对审美再现的“执行者”——翻译审美主体关注较少。本研究兼顾翻译审美主体、审美客体和审美再现三个方面，试图为中国诗歌英译的审美研究提供一种新的视角。
