摘要

Self-detennination Theory Posits that oPPortunities to exPerience threebasic Psychological needs autonom comPetence,and relatedness一areessential Promoting life satisfaction and well一being.Based on argenunlber of laboratory exPcriments and field studies have suggested thesignificance of suPP0rt for autonomy, comPetence and relatedness for leamers’well一being,high quality leaming,Persistence and autonomous leamingmotivations in educational contexts.However various educational contexts maydiffer hi their relative suPPort for these threc needs.The Present study examinesthe general situation of autonomy suPPort and the role of suPPort for autononly,con1Petence and relatedness In Predicting leamers’autonomous motivations inthe Chinese college English classroom conlext,and exPloros tho environmontalvariables on the Part of english teachers that might bring aboul the variance inleamer’5 Perceived autonomy, Perceived comPetence and sense of relatedness,and subsequently the variance in leamers,autonomous motivations.
