从功能对等理论的角度浅析美剧《老友记》中幽默字幕的翻译

摘要

随着各国间文化的不断交融，人们对彼此文化表现出强烈的兴趣。如今，观看美剧，已经成为一种时尚以及了解外国文化的方式。美剧《老友记》的特色之一，就是其风趣幽默的人物对白。本文运用了尤金·奈达的功能对等理论分析经典情景喜剧《老友记》的幽默字幕，论述了如何采取相应的翻译策略及方法，将蕴含在美剧中的幽默文化与语言特点以最大程度地呈现在中国观众面前，以有效地传达幽默的制笑效果。
　　 幽默字幕的翻译是对字幕中幽默话语的翻译，如何将字幕翻译工作进行得日益完善，带给观众最直观又有艺术感的字幕作品、使其成为声音、影像之外的最有力辅助，是本文试图探寻的问题。基于以上因素，本文对字幕翻译的特点及其局限性等因素进行了较详尽的论述。
　　 中外文化差异巨大，人们对幽默的理解也不尽相同，通过字幕翻译应该要做到将原文字幕中的幽默较准确地传达给译语观众，让译语观众也能像原语观众那样看懂以及完全理解字幕里的幽默。文章通过大量的实例分析了《老友记》中的通用幽默、文化幽默和言语幽默，提出对于以上三种幽默字幕的翻译可用直译和意译的方式更好地实现功能对等;同时文章还论述了幽默字幕的相关翻译策略和方法，即归化，异化策略以及减译法和增译法，通过以上的方式将美剧里的幽默对白进行较得体的翻译。不管是哪种翻译策略和方法，字幕翻译最重要的就是让译语观众看懂译语，并且与原语观众一样产生相似或相同的反应来体会幽默的传递。
　　 奈达的功能对等理论的核心是“最贴近，最自然的对等”，强调的是“读者反应论”，旨在实现表达的自然与流利，并且尽力使译语接受者能够理解并且欣赏已经转化为熟知文化下的文本，达到同源语接收者相对等的感受。综上所述，尤金·奈达的功能对等理论之于字幕翻译，特别是本文提出的幽默字幕的翻译有着很好的指导作用。它能够使译语观众可以和原语观众一样欣赏并且能领会美剧《老友记》里的幽默，在给人们带来精神愉悦的同时又更好地了解了美国的文化。
