自我概念与英语学习成绩的关联性:对中国非英语专业本科生的实证研究

摘要

“自我概念”是心理学中的一个重要理论，由于“自我概念”与学业表现之间存在相互关联性而且“学业自我概念”在外语学习过程中扮演着重要角色，“自我概念”在外语教学领域受到了越来越多的关注。本文运用实证分析的方法调查了“自我概念”和英语学习的关联性，即非英语专业本科生的“英语自我概念”和大学英语四级考试成绩的关系。作者在113名哈尔滨工业大学二年级非英语专业的本科生中进行了英语自我概念和英语学习实际情况的调查。在进行统计分析时，学生的大学英语四级考试成绩及其所在的班级都被看作英语学习成就的表现手段。本研究利用社会统计分析软件(SPSS 14.0版)对所得数据进行了相关分析、t检验和ANOVA分析。结果表明，哈工大学生英语自我概念与其英语成绩之间存在正相关关系。相比之下，拥有积极的英语自我概念的学生在英语学习过程中表现得更为自信和主动，并取得了较好的学习成绩。由此看来，积极的英语自我概念对英语学习起到了一定的推动作用，也可以作为影响因素之一来预测学生的英语成绩。根据本调查研究的结果，本文建议学生及教师都应该积极采取策略以加强“英语自我概念”的培养，从而有助于学生英语学习整体水平的提高。
