This study is a quantitative-based analysis of the end-ofyearrnexamination grades from a module delivered using arnmixture of classroom lectures and computer-basedrnsessions.rnIt is identified that e-learning engagement had arnpositive and statistically significant impact onrnperformance. An additional hour of computer-basedrnparticipation is found to increase a student's mark byrnapproximately 0.75%.rnThe paper also finds evidence of personalcharacteristic-rnrelated differences in teachingrneffectiveness. It is found that female students benefitedrnsignificantly less from computer-based learning than didrntheir male counterparts. Tentative evidence is also foundrnthat students from poorer economic backgrounds obtain arngreater benefit from a computer based delivery medium.rnIt is concluded that this study has identified twornpotentially significant pedagogical issues in respect torncomputer-based teaching. The results indicate that tornimprove teaching effectiveness and academicrnachievement, teachers should consider developingrndelivery strategies that maximize engagement and alsorntake into account learning-styles differences.
