This poster reports a study that examines and comparesrnhow Social Questions and Answers (Social Q&As, orrnSQAs) are used in the United States and China. The datarnwere collected from users of the most popular SQA site inrnthe two countries respectively. The preliminary findingsrnshow that overall SQA serves various user needs, and userrnsatisfaction is at about 70% for both sites. However, userrnsatisfaction with SQA answers varies by the types ofrnquestions. This is particularly relevant for Yahoo! Answersrnusers in the United States. SQA users in both countriesrnpoint out a common set of the most important factors asrnwell as the least important factors for a virtual informationrnservice. The practical implications of the study arerndiscussed.
