Considering the ever-increasing usage of the underground space, the problem of protecting existing buildings from deformations due to the execution of subterranean structures is assuming great importance. For sensible buildings, it is important to properly predict settlements, so that monitoring and, consolidation interventions can be designed and promptly actuated. In professional practice, it is often required to perform analyses in which the soil-structure interaction is explicitly considered. In the framework of the Cityringen design, damage assessment was performed for a significant number of buildings, represented by equivalent plate elements and characterized by finite values of stiffness and interface strength. Main results will be reported for a case-study.
