To shorten kenaf degumming time, fungus is screened based on pectase activity, and it is defined as Aspergillus Niger- kenaf by DNA sequencing of 18S rRNA gene. The activity of exo-pectase and endo-pectase are 565u/mL and 414 u/mL respectively. Moreover, the relationship between fungus growing and pectase producing is determined ,and the optimal time to extract pectase is stable phase (52-56h) during growth period. Compared to other fungi, Aspergillus Niger- kenaf could produce pectase with high activity and productivity, and kenaf degumming time is shortened obviously.1
