This study discloses a novel concept different from both the traditional artificial kidney and the lymphocyte cell therapy, to cure the chronic renal disease, particularly the disease of SLE(systemic lups erythematosus), which is regareded as an autoimmune disease caused by the existance of excessive amount of immune complex in the patients' serum. In this study, a full length of human tonsil CI1 cDNA was transfected into normal rat glomerular epithelial cells to enable the CR1 expression a long term(more than 1 year). As compared with the non-CR1 expressed cells, the CR1 expressed ones showed a higher binding effect to immune complex in a long period(more than 60 minutes), and the binding effect was demonstratd to be mediated by complement of serum.
