Lead (Pb) is a non-essential and toxic in the human body and ranked as 2nd in 'the priority list of hazardous substances' [1]. 230,000 deaths and 600,000 neurodevelopmental disorder annually occur due to the Pb poisoning caused by mining activity with the highest burden in developing countries. The chelation therapy using Dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) is the only applicable medical treatment; however, the cost is not usually acceptable for patients in the developing countries. Additionally, the possible side effects are concerned in case of long-term use for chronic exposure.
