A Study on the Establishment of New Hanok of South Korea

Hanok is a Korean housing which has fitted Korean nature for a long time.However, it was alienated in the process of Korea's drive for industrialization, and a concrete or brick building became a typical model for the housing in agricultural and fishing villages.In other words, Hanok failed to be established as a sustainable Korean housing culture.Meanwhile, some new Hanok housing began appearing about 6-7 years ago as the suburban housing and those were not the renovated but new ones.This is the study on architectural characteristics and social and cultural meanings of Hanok through approximately 1,200 recently established Hanok housings in Jeonnam Province.It is great that Hanok is succeeding its history as a Korean typical type of housing again.
