摘要

A proton exchange membrane (PEM) reactor was evaluated as a potential alternative to the electrolyzers used in commercial fluorine production.The anticipated advantages of the PEM reactor were continuous operation,higher current density per unit cell area,lower operating voltage due to reduction of the interelectrode gap distance,and complete product gas separation leading to improved safety.To the best of our knowledge this is the first time that fluorine production has been attempted in a polymer-membrane-separated reactor.
