This article is introducing the pedagogical principles of a new learning tool we propose to call with a new term - audigital book. It consists of a special device - digital pen, combined with interactive books. While touching the different parts of the books with the pen, the child can hear different audio- files - sounds, texts, rhymes, songs. Audigital books combine the advantages of digital learning and the values of classical printed books. The new learning tools are created within a joint project of Latvian and Estonian scientists, writers and illustrators, and entrepreneurs. The first series of books will be about well-known characters of children books and cartoons - Shammies - popular both by Latvian and Estonian children. With the help of the digital pen, young children can discover literacy, math, science and social skills in a playful and interactive way that is in accordance with the scientific ideas of learning and motivation. In this article, the underlying principles of audigital learning tools are introduced and connected with the first audigital book Shammies' House. One of the project goals is to develop attractive and fun learning tools that support the development of young children, introduce more children to learning and reading, and help social integration of children in Estonia and Latvia. Audio-learning tools implement the methodological approach developed in cooperation of two universities, in order to support the development of basic skills competencies (knowledge, skills and attitudes) of children in the local language by. Attractive methods ensure that all children can be engaged in learning - including children whose mother tongue is not Latvian or Estonian, children with learning difficulties and even children with special needs. During the project, we have also developed the first draft of the criteria of pedagogical evaluation of the new type of learning tools - audigital books.
