Recent innovations in pedagogical techniques have led to the introduction of new instructionalmethods in the management classroom. Typical teaching paradigms consist of individual student?seffort, characterized by competitive testing to assess student competence and create an evaluationhierarchy based upon grades. Competitive learning is most appropriate when student need to viewlearned materials. Similar to a cooperative learning structure, employing competitive learningstructures has the potential to engage students who otherwise may remain uninterested andunengaged. In this communication we present an experience that shows some engineering subjectscan be well suited for the application of such methodologies.
