This paper proposes a debate about the Moodle potential in the field of collaborative learning,stressing the importance of formative processes in terms of practical use of technology and, inparticular, the role of these processes at the level of convergence between Moodle platformaffordances and collaborative educational practices in schools.As a virtual learning environment, Moodle platform may, in terms of implementation, correspond to an(virtual) collaborative learning environment. The first step to implement an online collaborative learningenvironment is to seek to know the main potential of technology in this field. Then, a learning scenariowith tools to satisfy context and participants' needs must be built. This was the path taken by a groupof secondary teachers involved in a training intervention developed within a research project. Thechallenge was to look at the Moodle through the lens of collaboration but also look at the school andthe educational practices through the lens of innovation.The empirical component, including aspects such as teachers' conceptions and representations,contexts and educational practices, has provided some evidences concerning impact of the trainingprocess at the level of using tools and strategies aimed at the Moodle platform integration into schoolin a collaborative way.
