How Practitioners Evaluate User and Task Analysis

摘要

This paper describes the results of a qualitative study investigating how practitioner-students evaluate user and task analyses in the workplace and how they apply this information to interface design decisions in coursework. The results show an interesting asymmetry. Practitioners judge quantitative evaluations that support a bottom-line with numbers to be more effective in the workplace. Yet they rely mainly on qualitative evaluation in their course projects. This asymmetry is documented and discussed.
