Transport Properties of Strongly Correlated Electrons in Quantum Dots Using a Simple Circuit Model

Numerical calculations presented here simulate the main results of recent experiments (N. J. Craig et al., Science 304, 565 (2004)) involving nonlocal spin control in nanostructures. Our simulations indicate that a splitting of the zero-bias-peak is not related to the RKKY interaction, as suggested by Craig et al. Its origin is associated to the fact that one of the quantum dots is side-connected in relation to the electron's path. In addition, a simple "circuit model" is introduced and shown to give a good qualitative description of the experiments. The implications of this agreement are briefly discussed.
