Optimization of the chemcoater process in gavanizing line No. 8 of TKS

ThyssenKrupp's second latest hot dip galvanizing line No. 8 CGL went into operation in October 2001, This line is equipped with a ehemcoater to apply passivatlng layers like chromate or phosphate on the galvanized strip. Special attention must be given to the fact that the ehemcoater process in a CGL can operate at variable speeds. The report shows different Investigations to achieve a constant thickness of the coated layer over width and length. After this optimization the coater process Is advantageous compared to the spraying application: it is an outstanding treatment which prevents surface humidity, builds an important anticorrosion layer and improves appearance.
