摘要

Pulsed electrical discharges in water can generate high pressure shocks and pressure waves. In experiments performed at this Institute, we have used such discharges to accelerate thin conical metallic foils to velocities in the range 1.4-1.6 km/sec. The foils turn into high-velocity jets which can perforate metal sheets. In this paper, we report on two-dimensional computer simulation of such systems. This work is an extension of earlier work in this area, but with the inclusion of a fracture mechanics model and a more accurate model for thermal softening.
